Hello and thanks for stopping by. My name is Joe Merkle and I am 68 years old. Old enough to be the grandfather of some writers on Medium. My life has been quite the adventure, but through it all was one constant thread. Love.

Yeah, I’m that guy. I was born into a loving family, married the love of my life, and had three beautiful children who have children of their own. So you can say I’ve been pretty lucky. And I've been lucky once again to fall in love with another loving woman since my wife passed in 2021.

I have done some really stupid things throughout the years. But hey, that’s what we are here for. It's just getting us ready for the next amazing journey.

My parents were avid readers, and it rubbed off on their three children. My older sister taught me to read before I entered school. You can imagine how bored I was with the Dick and Jane books.

As much as I love to read I love to write more. I have three novels in the works that will probably never get done. I have been writing poetry and lyrics since my early high school days. During my late fifties, I dabbled in website design and SEO and produced numerous blog posts on a variety of topics.

Having said all that, the most important thing I have done with my life is to go on a wonderful, eye-opening, soul-awakening spiritual adventure. While all the “stuff” I’ve done will fade with time this adventure has no end. What a wonderful thing to wake up to in the morning and go to sleep to in the evening.
